PANELIST Daniel Rosen Founder & General Partner at Commerce Ventures Dan has been investing in tech startups for 15 years. He is a frequent speaker at conferences, contributor in industry press and startup mentor in various accelerator programs. Prior to starting Commerce Ventures, Dan was a Principal at Highland Capital Partners, where he focused on mobile and payments-related startups. He has also worked as an Associate at HarbourVest Partners, in Corporate Development at RSA Security (Acq’d by EMC); and as a software consultant for American Management Systems (Acq’d by CGI Group). Dan studied Finance and Information Systems at the University of Pennsylvania and earned an MBA from Harvard. Jay Reinemann Partner at Propel Venture Partners Jay has been immersed in the financial services sector throughout his career, much of it as an investor. After college, he worked at Old Kent Financial Corporation (now Fifth Third), Andersen Consulting, and then Visa, where he held operational and investor roles and eventually led Visa’s Corporate Ventures and Strategic Alliances group. At Visa, Jay led investments in Tripwire (acquired by Belden), Good (acquired by Motorola), Mobileway (acquired by Sybase), Application Security (acquired by Trustwave), Spi Dynamics (acquired by HP), Way Systems (acquired by VeriFone), and ISCubed (out of business). After Visa, Jay joined the founding team of an early stage social commerce start-up and founded a fintech venture fund, Altai Ventures, which was slightly ahead of the curve but failed to raise capital during the financial crisis. But the experience only increased his drive for fintech innovation and paved the way for him to join BBVA in 2011. Jay is a Wisconsin native but has lived and worked in California for the last 20 years. He lives on the Peninsula with his wife and kids. Sheel Mohnot Partner at 500Startups Sheel is a Partner at 500 Startups, running the 500 FinTech Fund and the FinTech track within the San Francisco Accelerator program. His recent startup experience includes 2 successful FinTech exits – a payments company and a high-stakes auction company. He also created and hosts a podcast called The Pitch. He formerly worked as a financial services consultant at BCG and did Microfinance work at the non-profit Kiva. Sheel holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a BS from Carnegie Mellon. Schwark Satyavolu General Partner at Trinity Ventures Schwark was most recently Executive Vice President at Lifelock, the leader in identity theft protection, where he oversaw product, technology, operations, business development and corporate development as well as its fraud analytics subsidiary ID Analytics. Prior to this, Schwark was responsible for all of the Mastercard rewards and offers initiatives around the world. Prior to this, Schwark was a co-founder and one of the original visionaries behind Truaxis, a card linked loyalty platform that delivers targeted offers driven by consumer transaction behaviors. He served as the CEO of the Trinity portfolio company, till its acquisition by Mastercard. Before that, Schwark was the co-founder of Yodlee, the platform that underlies most financial technology applications that rely on data or verification of financial institutions. At Yodlee he served in a variety of functions, including chief technology officer. Prior to that, Schwark was at Microsoft in the Microsoft Project group. Schwark is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute, and is an inventor on 15 US patents. MODERATOR Daniel Chatelain Managing Director at The BayPay Forum Daniel Chatelain is a payment industry executive focused on innovation in commerce and sitting on the board of directors or advisors of emerging companies.
